Talisman International delivers senior-level security consulting, investigations, and business risk advisory to resource sector operators, corporate clients, and organisations working in complex and high-risk environments across the Indo-Pacific.
Founded by a retired NSW Police Chief Inspector with 28 years of operational command, Talisman International combines law enforcement expertise, corporate security leadership, and deep Indo-Pacific operational experience into a trusted advisory practice.
Bruce Simons retired from the NSW Police Force at the rank of Chief Inspector following 28 years of operational command across critical incidents, siege situations, major public order events, and natural disaster response. He holds formal qualifications across security risk management, investigations, crisis management, emergency management, and strategic leadership — including the Graduate Diploma in Crisis Management and Advanced Diploma in Investigations.
Bruce has extensive experience managing security, compliance, and operational risk in remote resource sector environments, including current operational leadership at a major Papua New Guinea gold mine. His advisory work is grounded in ISO 31000, IFC Performance Standards, and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights for operations in complex and conflict-affected environments.
Prior client engagements span some of the world's most recognised organisations, including the Australian High Commission, British High Commission, US Embassy, ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, the World Bank, and the United Nations — all in Papua New Guinea — as well as IHG and Hilton Hotels.
Beyond operational security, Bruce brings direct government and political advisory experience, having served as one of two industry-selected experts on the PNG Security Industry Association Board advising the PNG Police Commissioner and Government on industry regulation and policy. He was personally selected by the NSW Police Commissioner to undertake political acumen and media management training at the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM), later serving as an official media spokesperson for the NSW Police Force.
Talisman International operates across nine core practice areas, deployable as standalone engagements or integrated advisory mandates.
Comprehensive security assessments, threat and vulnerability analysis, policy development, and operational security program design for corporate, resource sector, and government clients. Aligned to ISO 31000 and international best practice.
Protection of physical and intellectual assets across complex and remote operating environments. Command-level experience securing people, infrastructure, and operations against theft, sabotage, and insider threat in high-risk jurisdictions.
Incident command, crisis response planning, and emergency management for organisations operating in volatile environments. Bruce has commanded critical incidents, siege situations, large public order events, and natural disaster operations at the highest field level.
Enterprise risk frameworks, contractor compliance auditing, and due diligence for operations in high-risk and conflict-affected countries. Advisory grounded in ISO 31000, IFC Performance Standards, and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
Workplace and corporate investigations, industrial relations disputes, fraud control, theft, misconduct, and integrity matters. Formally qualified at Advanced Diploma level with 28 years of investigative experience across law enforcement and corporate environments.
Emergency preparedness planning, response framework development, evacuation design, and post-incident review for remote site operations and corporate facilities. Underpinned by Certificate IV in Public Safety Emergency Management and extensive operational command experience.
End-to-end logistics strategy, supply chain optimisation, 3PL network design, fleet and transport management, and remote site logistics administration for resource sector and large-scale project environments across Australia, PNG, and the broader Indo-Pacific. Supported by senior associate capability with 28+ years of executive-level logistics experience.
Senior-level political and government advisory experience in Papua New Guinea, including a paid appointment as one of two industry-selected experts on the PNG Security Industry Association Board, advising the PNG Police Commissioner and Government on security industry regulation and policy. Provided detailed security intelligence on PNG election periods and votes of no confidence while delivering security services to the Australian High Commission, British High Commission, and EU Consulate. Personally selected by the NSW Police Commissioner to undertake political acumen and media management training at the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM), and subsequently served as an official media spokesperson for the NSW Police Force.
End-to-end guard force supply, contract security management, and on-site security supervision for remote and high-risk operations. Drawing on executive experience as General Manager of Papua New Guinea's largest security company overseeing 4,000 personnel, and current operational management of contracted guard forces at a major PNG gold mine — Talisman delivers the physical security workforce, not just the advisory framework around it.
Talisman International operates a network of highly experienced associates, each a specialist in their field, deployable to client engagements requiring capability beyond the principal practice. All associates bring senior-level track records in resource sector, defence, and corporate environments.
